Conversion tracking is critical to successful online marketing. It lets you see what people do, the conversion actions they take, after seeing your ad.
You set up one conversion action at a time, but you can track multiple conversion actions at once.
To use the import feature you start in your Google ads account and click on the wrench icon, then conversions.
You’ll see four options. Today we’re discussing importing, so click the import icon.
Notice that you can import data from four sources, import from:
• Google Analytics
• Salesforce
• Offline lead conversions
• Phone sales
Lets focus on the most common which is Google Analytics.
When you click you’ll be presented with a list of goals that you should have setup prior to your conversions.
If you haven’t yet setup goals you need to. Your goals are crucial because your training Google to know exactly what you want.
Some goals that we use are:
• Time on site
• Scrolling down on page
• Number of pages visited
• Watched a video
Those are called Micro goals. We use those primarily for re-targeting. We assign a score to each visitor. We know our interested traffic that is worth re-marketing to and we don’t waste any money on those that aren’t interested by using these micro goals.
Our macro goals are what you want the end result to be. It can be a purchase checkout or a form fill for example.
For conversions always use your macro goals. For re-targeting use your micro goals to bring them back to your page or funnel and get them to take a macro goal action or conversion on your website.
And that’s How To Optimize Google Ads For Conversions with the import feature.
