Most people are familiar with your basic search ads. These are the most commonly seen and most commonly used types of ads. They are based on intent when a user goes to Google and enters a search term, if your ads is setup to be found for that term, the search ads will appear.
Google Display Network
The display network is filled with banners and now even videos also. It can be used in two primary ways:
- you can either use it for discovery and drive leads at the top of your funnel, or
- you can use it for remarketing
Both can work extremely well. If you remarket, however, be careful not to overuse it. People will get burnt out if you’re too aggressive. You can limit the number of times it appears in a day and like to limit to three. It’s not too annoying and it lets your ads feed to a wider audience.
YouTube Ads
These are some of the most underused types of ads but incredibly effective. They are a brilliant tool for building brand and awareness. They are the least expensive type of ads you can get view for as low as one cent each.
Shopping Ads
Are for online stores and are also a great way to be found quickly and easily by searchers. Your product catalog is uploaded and it can be set to show dynamically based on your inventory.
Gmail Ads
And last but not least Gmail ads are also a great opportunity and not many companies use them like they should. If you ask most people about email marketing they will tell you they hate spam and pestering emails. But ads are part of the deal in using Gmail and if you have a good ad especially paired with video and display it can be extremely effective.
